More Korean show reviews for Mark

Been awhile since I posted reviews:
---------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------
Manny - The male nanny!  We are told this manny times!  Ok series, not a lot of hijinks or zaniness.  The SHinwoo character is a little different then usual.   Ending isn't awesome.  It does have one of the most romantic scenes ever though.  3.5/5

In Need of Romance - Not a Mark show - little hijinks or zaniness.  Closest thing it reminds me of is a Korean Sex and the City.  Complete with voice overs and the same stereotyp charatcers.  Overall a fun show that wrpas up the story lines in the final episode.  I didn't really like the ending for one of the characters - don't want to ruin it for you, so won't say which one.....   not rated on the Mark scale, but overall a good KD.  4.1/5

Heartstrings - We were watching this, and we're like, where's the Shinwoo - and then we realized the male lead was played by THE SHINWOO from 'You're Beautiful'  so they didn't need a SHinwoo, since they had THE SHINWOO.  So it was THE SHINWOO from 'You're Beautiful" and the female lead from 'You're Beautiful' doing their own series without a Shinwoo.  ANd in an obvious nod to his status as THE SHINWOO, his name in the series is Shin....   Not a lot of hijinks. Typical crazy Korean ending. 4/5

Movie: Innocent Steps: A romantic dance movie where we see just how crazy intense the Korean dance scene was in 2005.  Movie has some bizarre twists.  And watch out for the huge special effects budget.  Overall still a cute movie though.  4/5

Movie: Dancing Queen: starts out bizarre, then gets more normal. 3.5/5

My Fair Lady - Crazy Korean beginning and a main Character named Hyena! 4.2/5

My princess - starts out good, then drags a bit, then gets good again...   Male lead also played Dr. Jin (who I keep think of as Dr. Jin medicine woman ;-) which was quite an iconic role - so its hard to think of him as a diplomat and not a doctor..... Really drags towards the end - could have been a couple of episodes shorter.  3.5/5

Secret Garden (Sikeurit Gadeun) - Gil Ra-im (Ha Ji-won) and Kim Joo-won (Hyun Bin) - the leads switch bodies, its kind of hard to tell some of the time though, as the female lead is a total badass and plays a stunt woman and is much tougher then the male lead.  Starts out good and doesn't suffer from dragging on like a lot of Korean dramas in the later episodes. - 4.2/5

Playful Kiss (Itazura na kisu) AKA  Naughty Kiss - Starts out bad - Y actually stopped watching after the 1st episode, but gets better and better as it goes.  And the SHINWOO gets the girl.  As in the THE SHINWOO from 'Boys Over Flowers' plays the romantic lead. Doesn't suffer from dragging on like a lot of Korean dramas in the later episodes.  But does suffer from the main character being such a jerk most of the time(like a lot of KD), it's hard to believe he gets the girl. - 4/5

Rooftop Prince(Oktab-bang Wangseja) - fun, but with the time travelling has a few holes. Also - maybe it was the translation, but the ending wasn't clear. - 4/5

To The Beautiful You - Korea's hottest new Korean Drama is 'To The Beautiful You' This Korean Dramas has everything - a high school student olympic gold medalist, a cross-eyed model photographer, a pervert driving a van who gets beat up in a Kung-fu scene, a cross dressing girl pretending to be a boy pretending to be a girl, many gimps(I think everyone in this show hurts their ankles at some point), and the Shinwoos who like them. - 4.2/5

Cheongdam-dong Alice (Cheongdamdong Aelliseu) - was all about the suits - there were some crazy ones worn - including Cha Seung-jo wearing one with crazy pointy "flaps" on the front shoulders early on. Also - this is at least the 3rd thing I've seen Moon Geun-young in - maybe her record for crying in a series though.  And Kim Ji Suk as Tommy Hong is best douche bag with a heart of gold ever....  http://www.wallsave.com/wallpapers/1920x1080/dream-high-korean-drama/174085/dream-high-korean-drama-alice-for-free-cheongdamdong-174085.jpg - 4.2/5

Personal taste - funniest 1st episode I have seen in awhile and stays funny......Kim Ji Suk is back and improbably playing an even bigger douche bag.  - 4.2/5

Scent of a Woman(Yeoinui Hyanggi) - The subject matter doesn't really lend itself to hilarity, and this tends more to drama and serious crying then the average KD.....  - 4/5

Creating Destiny(Inyeon Mandeulgi) - The lead female is sassy, and its fun watching an IRL married couple act together in a KD, but this seires is 31 episodes and really drags on for the last 10 episodes.... most KD are 16-20 episodes(25 is a long series), and this one should have been 20...... Also - I noticed this was made in 2009 before the modern KD template was set(By: Boys over flowers, and You're Beautiful - so that didn't help either)  I'll give this one a split review, first 20 episodes: 3.4/5, last 11 episodes 2/5

Shut Up & Let's Go(Dakchigo Kkotminambaendeu) -  fun drama - a little more shocking then most, so make sure to avoid spoilers.  And every few episodes they make sure to throw in some Kungfu.  - 4.2/5

Bel Ami (Pretty Boy) - Good drama but suffers from being over hyped, so you think it'll be the next coming.  Stars male lead of 'You're beautiful' in another 'beautiful' role - was pushed on every KD website I saw.  So a good Kdrama, but not 'You're beautiful'good. - 4.2/5

The Heirs - Wins award for gnarliest surfer dude in a KD.   Seems to actually be shot on location in Cali and has people who seem to actually speak english.  Male lead from 'boys over flowers' and female lead from 'You're beautiful'.  So another hyped 'super KD'.  Biggest issue is all the well known actors in their mid 20s - I recognize a bunch of them playing highschool students - and not even seniors - so suffers from a touch of 90210-itis. And they do switch it around, the lead is a nice guy and the SHINWOO is a jerk.....
This one suffers from the over hype - its on every KD site headline pretty much.  Series itself is not all that great, it has its moments, but drags on a lot.  I get the inpression they spent all the budget on the stars and locations and not the writers.  Almost turned it off at a couple of points.... starts out ok, gets bland for a big stretch in the middle, and finishes ok.... Still better then slogging thru 'creating destiny' as it was 20 ep, not 30. - 3/5
I also watched the Heirs parody 3 part series:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Op3oXY3_g48   - it actually was just an intro to a concert and was about 15 min long - not worth watching either.  2/5 - and this is only because they had 2 of the stars from the actual show on for part of ep.2, the rest of it was pretty random and not funny.

Prime Minister and I - Starts out fun, then kind of meanders and drags as you get closer to the end, not sure why they stretched it to 17 episodes, it prolly would have been better at the standard 16. Also the male lead was in Dr. Jin - and plays the character so differently it took awhile for me to recognize him.  Like when the 1st Doctore Who ended up on heroes....  - 3.8/5

And just for the heck of it - threw this in:

Thought this was fun!  Mark and the Marks album, 'I'm too Marky'
